Join us for Proof Readers Book Club, in collaboration with Proof Social Club!

We’re reading again in the cozy, inclusive space at Proof Social Club, where Fort Street Mall meets Chaplain Lane.

This month: a book-inspired costume contest! Our friend DJ will emcee the contest beginning at 6:30, and we’ll have prizes — including one for the best non-book-related costume, so wear whatever works!

As always: bring something to read, meet some book-loving friends, and have a cocktail, mocktail, or brew.

Feel free to support area businesses by bringing your own food.

We’ll have a book exchange table: bring a few, take a few, or whatever.

Text Mitchell at 830-255-7423 if you need info, if you’d like a ride home, or if you’d like company to or from your car or bus stop!

If it rains, it rains.

Come read with us anyway. We’ll try to set up at our usual spot. Big round table at Kahala Mall in front of the Whole Foods Market.

If it’s too wet, we’ll very politely try for the tables under the eaves. Otherwise, tables in the mall!

No book exchange if it’s rainy. Yes book exchange if it’s not!

Free parking. No pressure to spend money*, but lots of food and drink options nearby.

Bring something to read! We’ll chat, take some voluntary photos, then read for an hour. Then stick around and chat some more, or keep reading, or call it a night!

6 to 8 Thursday the 8th. We can’t wait to read with you!

* Hey, so the tables in the big seating area are the mall’s. The tables under the eaves are Whole Foods Market’s. If we end up there, consider getting a little something inside, like a bottle of mustard or ten pounds of gorgonzola. ❤️

We’re back at the Hawaii State Library Monday, October 1, in the Language, Literature, and History section.

As you enter the building, head to the left wing and go straight back. Or go right through the front lobby and straight through the courtyard to the far left corner, where you’ll see these windows to a solid hour of quiet reading time with your Honolulu Silent Book Club homies.

We’ll take some voluntary photos of our books, then chat a little about what we’re reading. Then it’s time to read!

The library closes at 7, so come a little early if you’re in a browsing-borrowing kind of mood.

Parking: metered street parking is free beginning at 6, or park in the Iolani Palace lot, which is also free after 6. Let palace security know if you want to leave before 7, when they open the gates to release the library staff!

Emily the Librarian is our host. We can’t wait to read with you!
