Audiobook walk at Kapiolani Park.

Meet at the bandstand, front and center. If there’s something going on at the bandstand, meet behind the last row of seats, right in the middle.

Bring your audiobook (or visual book; it’s totally doable if you walk slowly!).

Meet at 6. Take an optional group photo. Start walking.

Move at your own pace and for your own duration. Meet at the bandstand after an hour, then go across the street to @barefootbeachcafe for a little food and drink, if you’d like.

Text Mitchell at 830-255-7423 if you’d like a ride home. Lately we’ve stayed ’til close to 9, but I really need to head out around 8 this week.

Please consider hosting this event, for once or for longer. I’ll host it again in October, but then I need a break (from hosting this activity, not necessarily from attending!) for a few months.

Thank you for reading with us this past week! It was so fun getting to know you!

Book talk is the best talk, isn’t it?

Thank you for being so welcoming of one another. Without your inclusiveness, this would all be meaningless.

We had a lot of new faces these past couple of months, and we’re always happy to see more, so if you’re bashful (we get it!) but feeling the urge, just come join us. We can’t wait to read with you!

Kahala Mall happens again October 9.

Kawaikui Park happens again September 28.

Keep your eyes on this space for all the other bookish nonsense coming your way! Proof Social Club! Audiobook walk at Kapiolani Park! Special Silent Book Club 10th Anniversary celebration!

See you Thursday the 11th!

6 to 8 at Kahala Mall!

We’re at it again, and if these photos don’t convince you to come by, we also have cute reading lamps shaped like kitties.

Thursday, September 11, 6 to 8.

Meet in front of the Whole Foods Market at Kahala Mall, at the big round table.

We’ll say hi, take an optional group photo, then read for an hour, after which you are free to keep reading, to stick around and chat, or to call it a night!

Bring a physical book, an ebook, an audiobook, or, if you’re from the future, whatever cool holobook interface you’ve brought back!

Also if you’re from the future, can you tell me who wins the Super Bowl this year?

Lots of free parking and plenty of good food and drink options nearby, but no pressure to spend money at all. Text Mitchell at 830-255-7423 if you get lost, if you have any questions, or if you’d like a ride home!

We can’t wait to read with you!

Have we got a September for you!

Details forthcoming.

We aren’t actually doing anything for Stephen King’s birthday*, but the template had an extra space.

* (unless you want to host something, in which case DM me soon!)

We’re doing it again.

Great drinks (including some excellent mocktails), Proof Readers bookmarks, and some tasty reading.

Bring something to read, or find a new treasure in @proofsocialclub‘s Little Free Library!

Drop something off or pick something up from the book exchange table.

Make new book-loving friends or just lose yourself in your own pages.

6 to whenever, Wednesday the 27th, Proof Social Club on Fort Street Mall!

Text Mitchell at 830-255-7423 if you’d like a ride, or someone to accompany you to and from your vehicle or bus stop!

See you Saturday afternoon at 2:30!

Gina is your host. Meet her on the Waimanalo side of the park (to the left as you face the Pacific).

Bring something to read!

Bring sunscreen and a chair or towel.

Bring your chillest vibe.

We can’t wait to read with you!

6 to 8. Meet in front of Whole Foods Market at the big round table.

Say hi (or not).

Group photo (or not).

Read!

Read!

Read (for an hour)!

Audio books, physical books, ebooks, or whatever!

Stick around and chat, keep reading, or call it a night.

Bring books for the book exchange table, or take a few. We don’t have rules. Leftovers will be taken to the Little Free Library in Makiki District Park.

Ready (or not)? Let’s lose ourselves in some good (or bad!) books!

Please text Mitchell at 830-255-7423 if you’d like a ride home.

Hi. I’ve been terrible about updating this space lately because WordPress wasn’t letting me upload new images, and it wasn’t saving new posts. I finally got it working again, but in the process I deactivated and reactivated the theme, which threw off all my settings. This is why it says “empty sidebar” in the right panel. I’ll fix it later.

Thanks to Gina and to Baron for hosting recent meetups. If you’d like to host something, please reach out!

We love indie bookstores and we love the literature of Hawaii, so this field trip organized by Gina is a great idea. More field trips to more bookstores, please! Send me your ideas, especially if you’d like to host one!

Thank you for reading with us. It’s been a blast!

It’s the second-best month of the year, and we have stuff going on.

June reads!

Message Mitchell at 830-255-7423 if you have questions, if you get lost, if you want company to or from your car or bus stop, if you’d like a ride home, of if you just want a silly story and word of encouragement.

Thursday June 12: our regular monthly meetup at Kahala Mall. Free parking, lots of food and drink options but no pressure to spend money. Meet at big round table in front of Whole Foods Market. We’ll say hi (optional), take a group photo (optional), read for an hour, and either call it a night or linger and chat. Get a new sticker from @miyoartdesign! Bring a book or two for the book exchange table!

Thursday June 19: Our first audiobook walk! Meet at the Kapiolani Park bandstand, front and center. We’ll say hi (optional), take a group photo (optional), stick our books in our ears, and walk for an hour at our own paces. Peel off any time if you’ve had enough, and meet us back at the bandstand. Food, drink, and chitchat at Barefoot Beach Cafe until 8. Please let Mitchell know if you’d like some helping getting audiobooks on your phone!

Wednesday, June 25: Proof Readers Book Club at Proof Social Club. Our monthly chill time with books, libations (including great mocktails), and food by Pasta Boys. Check out the in-house book exchange shelves. We’ll also have a book exchange table, so bring a couple of good ones who could use new homes!

Remember: there’s never assigned reading. Silent Book Club is all about reading what YOU want to read.

Possible other June meetups may pop up, so keep an eye on this space.

It’s going to be a great summer! We can’t wait to read with you!
